Henefer

Lorraine Boyer Stephens, age 92, passed away June 26, 2022.  Born  Aug 1, 1929 in Coalville, Utah, Lorraine was the fifth of six children born to Robert Earl Boyer and Hazel Wilde Boyer. Being raised in Hoytsville, UT during the Great Depression, all of the Boyer children learned the value of hard work, and learned to enjoy the simple things of life. She graduated from North Summit High School in 1947. After high school she went to work at the Summit County hospital for Dr O.W. Oldham and later for Dr Reed J. Parker. Even though she did not have a nursing degree, her gift of caregiving was evident throughout her life as she helped care for many friends and family members.

Lorraine married LaVelle Stephens in the Salt Lake Temple October 20, 1950. They moved into a little white cinderblock house in Henefer that was intended to be a garage. They turned it into a comfortable home that is known as the Love Shack today. Wade and Julie were both born while living in the little house. It soon became apparent that a bigger house was needed. Early in 1959 they moved into their new home which was just a stone’s throw away. Lorraine was an excellent cook, seamstress, and homemaker. Their new home became a gathering place for family reunions, barbeques and parties. Soon after moving into their new home Wesley and Whitney joined the family. This made their family complete.

In 1975 LaVelle and Lorraine acquired a cattle ranch at Burnt Fork, Wyoming.  Lorraine loved being involved in the ranch; putting up hay, moving cows, branding etc. but her greatest love was being on the back of a horse.

She is survived by 3 of her children: Wade (Mary Ellen) of Burnt Fork, WY; Julie (Steve) Teichert of Mackay, ID; Whit (Brooke) of Henefer, UT. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Mom was the last of the Greatest Generation on both sides of our family.  Preceded in death by her husband LaVelle Stephens; son, Wesley Boyer Stephens; her granddaughter, Tessa Teichert; her parents, and siblings: Kathleen Lake, Max Boyer, Afton Anderton, Ted Boyer, and Jack Boyer.
