Jacqueline Hopkin Dawson, 84, passed away November 28, 2021. Born February 1, 1937, in Ogden, UT, to Nora Howard Ellis and John (Jay) Rawle Hopkin. As a youth, Jackie helped her father with his business, The Hopkin Cafe, in Morgan. She was a good student who enjoyed playing in the band.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who always had faith in Christ and a prayer in her heart, that sustained her through her trials in life. Jackie met Dale Toone Dawson, while she was working at the Hopkin Cafe. They were married on August 3, 1952, and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 8, 1952. They settled in Midvale, Utah where they raised their children.
She was employed by the Jordan School District for over 20 years in the school lunch program (many of those years as manager). After retiring from the school district, she went to work in the bakery/deli at Walmart, where she worked for over 15 years before retiring at the age of 82.
She spent most of her life caring for others, but especially for her daughter Dixie, then her husband Dale, when his health began to fail, and always her grandchildren.
Jackie is survived by her children, Linda Smith, Denise (Bruce) Nelson, John (Suzy), and Dale (Carlene), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, her son David Andrew, daughter Dixie, son in law Eddie Smith, grandson in law Doran (Swede) Peterson, great-grandson Donovan Peterson, parents and three siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Walker Mortuary, 45 W 200 N, Morgan. Viewing will be held on the same day from 9:00-9:45 am at the same location. Interment at the Henefer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, take your family out to dinner or donate to your favorite charity.
