Helen Richins

January 13, 1933 — January 31, 2020

Helen Fay Buck Richins, 87, peacefully completed her earthly sojourn on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Sunrise Senior Assisted Living facility in Sandy, Utah, as a result of pulmonary fibrosis.

Fay was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, January 13, 1933.  She was the daughter of the late Orin Jackson Buck, and Ruby Jeannette Bell Buck.  She married the love of her life, Frank William Richins on June 10, 1956 in Wilmington, North Carolina.  They were later sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple, on June 10, 1959.  Fay was a woman of great faith.  As a child she attended the Pearsall Memorial Presbyterian Church with her mother.   She graduated from Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, North Carolina with a degree in Bible Studies.  As an adult, she became an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.  She served diligently in many positions within the church, including years of scouting, and girls camp.  She also served for eight years as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple.

Mrs. Richins was full of life.  She was energetic and enthusiastic about everything she did. She loved family history and did extensive genealogical research.  In addition, she compiled and wrote personal histories for herself, her beloved Frank, her parents, and his parents.  Fay was blessed with a beautiful voice and she enriched the lives of countless people with her singing.  Indeed, she loved all kinds of music, and she couldn’t help but “dance” whenever she heard a lively tune.  Fay was an avid reader, an accomplished gardener, and a scriptorian.  She loved children; all the preschoolers she taught, all her scouts, and all the young women she camped with and advised.  She reveled in the time she spent with her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.  Fay was kind, and she was loyal.  She touched many by sharing her wisdom with them.  She loved deeply and is deeply loved.  We will miss her, until we meet again.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.  She is survived by five children:  Anna (Jon) Davis of Layton, Utah; Steve (Ruth) Richins of Brentwood, California; Nancy (K Marshall) Volpa of Sandy, Utah; Phil (Stacey) Richins of Sandy, Utah; Trish (Steve) Werner of The Woodlands, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Betty (Fred) Grieger, and brothers Durward Jackson Buck, Gerald Ray (Virginia) Buck, and George Nathan (Dana) Buck.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am at the Sandy Second Ward Building, located at 586 East 8400 South, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 am at the church.

Interment Henefer Cemetery, Utah.

Fay, and her family, thank all of the wonderful employees at Sunrise Senior Living of Sandy, and all of the incredible hospice personnel that took care of her; for the love and tenderness they extended to her.  She loved you all.
