Gilbert Neal Staley

Gilbert Neal Staley passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Family Tree Assisted Living in Morgan Utah. He was born February 19, 1930 in Upton, Utah to Elmer Doris & Margert Matilda Staley.

He grew up in Coalville, graduating from North Summit High School Class of 1949 where he participated in choir, boys council, basketball, football, track, and FFA.

He married his high school sweetheart Lola Hobson on October 4, 1950. They were marred for 52 years. She passed away in January 2002. He later married Emma Green. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a sheepherder. He worked at Devil Slide as a burner. Owned and operated the Evanston Wyoming Taco Time until he retired.

He enjoyed his time on the mountains Chariot Racing, Arrowhead hunting, and fishing.

He and Lola spent the winters in Quartzsite Arizona. Where they made many life long friends.

He is survived by his wife Emma, Buhl, ID. His children Brent (Linda) Coalville, UT, Julie Ekness (Danny) Toquerville, UT, Alan (Valerie) Green River, WY, Larita Jacobson (Bill) Upton, UT, Ralph Burke (son-in-law) Hoytsville, UT. Brother Spencer (Carloyn) St. George, UT, Sister Karen Giger (Jack) Parowan, UT. Step-children Cheri Crafton, Reiner, WA, Dale Simpson, Kamas, WA, Randy Simpson, Buhl, ID. 15 grandkids, 44 great-grandkids and 1 great-grandchild on the way and one great great grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Lola, daughter Laneal Burke, granddaughter Jennafer Jacobson, brothers Ray & Eldon, and sisters Viola June, Blanche and Geraldine.

We would like to thank Emma for taking care of Dad these last few years as his health declined. Also thanks to the staff at Family Tree, and Cory Blonquist his nurse from Encompass Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Hoytsville Chapel.  Viewings will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.

Interment will be at the Hoytsville Cemetery with Military Honors.
