Elizah Smith

July 17, 2012 — February 28, 2022

Elizah Colleen Smith, 9 years old, passed away at Primary Children’s Hospital with her parents by her side on Monday, February 28, 2022.

Elizah was born to Curtis Douglas Smith & Trinity Lynn Dillree Smith on July 17, 2012.  She was born with a congenital heart defect as well as unique chromosomal anomalies and had multiple surgeries and specialists over the years at Primary Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital.  Her parents along with her two older sisters, Rebekah and Korah, loved and cared for her every day since she was born.

Elizah had a special personality and was always a happy little girl even with her many medical issues.  Her aides and therapists over the years always enjoyed working with her and cuddling her each time they visited our home to work with her or spent time with her at the school.

When she was in better health, Elizah enjoyed her binkie and screeching at the top of her lungs for her own entertainment as well as to get her families attention.  She went to work with mom, attended many games and competitions for her sisters, and had some fun family outings over the years.  Her favorite place to be was at home rolling around all over her room, getting lost under her crib, and having dad sneak her licks of crackers and ice cream!  She was her mom’s constant companion and sweet girl.  She loved to feel the scratchiness of her dad’s beard and he was always the best at getting smiles out of her.  Her sisters would read her books, play peek-a-boo, watch nature shows in her room, and sometimes would be annoyed by her scratching her nails on her wheelchair canopy.

As Elizah’s health and cognitive state changed over the past few years, she was unable to do a lot of what she used to do and stayed home a lot more.  She enjoyed lights, contrasting colors, watching her mobile in the morning when getting ready and at night before bed, fuzzy blankets, and being loved and kissed each day and night by her family.

Elizah is going to be missed daily by her family and those who were close to her.  We will miss hearing her make noises, holding her, and being able to love her each day.

We, her family, are so grateful to those who have shown her love and cared for her over the last 9 ½ years of her life.  Her therapists, caseworkers, and doctors in Spring Creek, Nevada as well as the many specialists, nurses, and caregivers at Primary Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital contributed much to her life and we are grateful for their care and influence on our family as a whole.

She is survived by her parents, sisters, grandparents Brian & Julie Smith, Fawnete & Dallas Hunt & Tammi Dillree, great grandparents Colleen Mickelsen, Curtis E. Smith, Joann Carr, and Patricia Bird as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her grandpa Clay Dillree, great grandparents Francis Smith, J Douglas Carr, Steve Bird, Butch Dillree, Lynn Mickelsen, and Don Dillree.
