Donna Keyes

September 1, 1929 — August 25, 2020

Coalville

Donna was born September 1, 1929 to David and Lucile Sargent in Hoytsville, Utah. She died August 25, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family. Her sweet husband and granddaughter greeted her.

She married her high school sweetheart Clarence “Buster” Keyes on April 7, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together they built and worked on a ranch raising sheep, cows, and mink. Donna worked as a nurse and a dental assistant in her early years of marriage. She shared her kind and special self with all of those around her. At a young age Donna developed her sewing talent by sitting in the corner sewing doll clothes by hand. Donna’s sewing talent grew and developed. She made countless outfits for rodeo queens as well as prom formals and wedding dresses. Many all over the nation knew her. She touched many lives through her sewing and always made everyone feel confident not just in themselves but also in the clothes she made for them. They always were a perfect fit. She was inducted into the Miss Rodeo Utah Hall of Fame for all the years of sewing for all “her” girls. She enjoyed making quilts for people.

Donna was a member of the BPW for 50 years and was awarded Woman of the Year. She also served in the Literary Club for 35 years and the American Legion for 30 years. Donna enjoyed hosting parties and always made sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. Her family brought her the most joy, especially children. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings. Together, Buster and Donna raised three children, Bradley, Shanna, and Edward. Donna will be remembered for her talent and love that she shared with many.

She is preceded in death by her parents David and Lucile, her husband Buster, Brothers Norman, Glen and Ray and sister Myrl. Her granddaughter Aubrey also precedes her in death.

Donna is survived by her three children, Bradley (Linda) Keyes, Shanna (Karl) Hopkins and Edward (Jan) Keyes, eight grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren. All will miss her love and warm smile.

The family would like to thank Corey and all the Encompass nurses and staff and Jeanette Vernon for their dedicated love and care.
