Donna Butters

Donna Bitton Butters, our sweet, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on October 29, 2020.

Mom was born in Ogden, Utah, on November 25, 1925 to Benjamin H. and Hannah Toone Bitton. She married Donald G. Butters on October 7, 1946.  They lived in West Weber and later moved to Morgan in 1955 where they raised five children.  Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Donna and Donald spent many summer days at their vacation home overlooking Flaming Gorge and enjoyed many winters in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Mom was adventurous and always up for anything. She was our entertainment at family parties, and she was always the center of attention.  She was hard-working and active right up until the end.  She always had a beautiful garden and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables.  Mom and her dear friend, Grace Johanson, enjoyed walking to Round Valley Golf Course collecting golf balls.  She and Grace started the tradition of putting the American flag on the “M” in Morgan, Utah.  Mom was very patriotic.  She painted and wallpapered many homes in Morgan.  Mom loved yardwork and always had a well-kept yard.

Mom is survived by her children, Karen (Brent) Nelson, Deanne (Roger) Cowan, Carl (Kandee) Butters, Janet Heiner, Ron (Lynette) Butters, her sisters Marilyn Speas, and Vera Hurlburt.  She has 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  Mom was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson (Trevor Flitton), two brothers, and four sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mom’s friends and neighbors for all their love and friendship, particularly to long-time neighbor and close friend RuthAnne Heiner for her daily visits.

A COVID-compliant viewing will be held for family and close friends at Walker Mortuary in Morgan on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 1:00-1:45, followed by a graveside service at the South Morgan Cemetery at 2:00.
