Dona Ball Olson

June 4, 1929 ~ September 4, 2021 (age 92)

Obituary

Our Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma Dona Ball Olson passed away September 4, 2021 with her family by her side. She was 92, how amazing

She was in her home which she cherished and took pride in for 75 years. It was the place she loved the most, her sanctuary.

She was born on June 4, 1929 to Thomas Hershal Ball and Elsie Winters Ball, the youngest of 5.

In 1946 she married David Leroy Olson and they lived in Hoytsville from then on.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999 and four older sibling: Mildred (Judd) Saxton, June (Moore) Garr, Faye Reese, and Richard Neal (Faye) Ball.

She is survived by three children: Barry Wayne Olson (Sylvia Mortenson), David Lee (Ruth) Olson, and Paula Jean Thiriot (Bob Simmons) (Blaine Thiriot-deceased); 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was always so caring and welcomed many people to her home, young and old. The boys in the Band, The Deer Hunters, silly young girls riding bikes and horses, nephews and nieces, young and old were always welcome. Christmas and Thanksgiving for all that wanted to come.

She was a great neighbor and friend, always caring and lending a helping hand when needed.

She was thrilled when grandchildren started to arrive, new babies in her life. Three in a year, then four more to follow over the years. Their friends became her friends, and they called her Grandma Dona.

She was a farmer, a gardener, seamstress, great dancer, played the piano, sang in the choir, an avid oil painter. She served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many callings.

Her accomplishments were many. She worked as a waitress for the Spring Chicken Inn for many years,  then at Crandall Walker Ford as a secretary. She took her financial skills to work as a Bank Manager at Deseret Federal Credit Union and in her later years she worked for the Dress Barn where her fashion savvy made her the top salesperson. She retired at 70 years old.

She had a knack of juggling kids, the farm and working a steady job. Always keeping herself in style, the house clean and never going anywhere without looking her best.
