Beverly Cannon

January 9, 1933 — July 1, 2018

Morgan

Beverly Hales Cannon, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home July 1st, 2018 after a valiant fight with cancer.

Bev was born January 9, 1933 in Fielding, Utah, the first of three children of Earl Dean Hales and Phyllis Wood. Her family moved to Santa Ana, California a few years later, and then back to Utah where Bev attended school in Riverside and Farmington.  Her family then moved to Salt Lake City where Bev graduated from West High School.  While there, she met Gary Cannon, a student at South High School.

Beverly was sealed to Gary on August 7, 1953 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.  They’ve lived in many locations in Colorado, Utah, and Texas, where they’ve raised six children.  Bev was a devoted wife and mother, always trying to help her children learn to be independent while looking out and caring for others.  The family enjoyed long road trips, camping, and sailing.  They loved to sing together, with Bev singing in a beautiful alto voice.

Bev has had many varied interests throughout her life.  She loved crafts, painting, and pressing flowers collected from the places she’s visited.  She continued her education, attending classes at UTEP while living in El Paso, TX.  She loved to read, and loved to garden, growing beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables. She also loved the ocean, often just sitting and watching the waves when she was able to be near an ocean. She loved to travel and to meet new people.

Bev was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and has served in many callings in the church throughout her life, most recently as a Temple and Family History Consultant.  She has also been an active member of the DUP.

Bev is survived by her husband, Gary; her children Janene Wilson (Jim), Shawn Cannon-Bahe (Bret), Jeff Cannon (Suzanne), Margy Richter (Eldon), Patrick Cannon (Angie), and Heather Davison (Paul); and brother Cleve Hales (Karin). She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved their Grandma Cannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jan.

Services will be held Saturday, July 7th at 11 am in the Rock Church on Young Street in Morgan UT. Visitation time will begin at 9:45 am.  A graveside service for family members will be held at 3 pm that same day at Fielding Cemetery in Fielding, UT.
