He married LaRue Kippen on July 18, 1946 in Morgan, Utah. They were blessed with four wonderful daughters, Jeneil, Deborah, and the twins, Cindy and Sandy. He spent many years in retirement doing his favorite things. Those included traveling, fishing, attending chariot races and spending weekends at the swap meets. Wendel had a great eye for the "Bargain." Even though he had mobility problems, Wendel spent the last few years attending to his mother and wife.
