V Marie Richins

July 9, 1922 — October 13, 2016

Henefer, Utah - Virginia Marie Richins, 94 returned peacefully to her heavenly father on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at The Family Tree in Morgan, Utah.

She was born in Arcadia, Nebraska on July 9, 1922 to Ralph William and Zora Julia Mowery Forbes.  She married Mervin Alma Richins in Fresno California and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

She graduated from high school and attended Business College in Portland Oregon.  She worked as a secretary at the phone company, and also at the shipping docks.  She worked at Larry’s grocery store as a cashier.  She was a secretary for Dairy Tank and Grumps Gas and Grocery for several years until her retirement

She met Mervin Alma Richins at an Odd Fellows dance in Portland, Oregon.  They began dating and decided to get married before Mervin went over seas to serve in WWII.  The had two children Stanley Mervin Richins and Virginia Richins

She was an active member of the Henefer LDS Wards and enjoyed serving in many organizations and callings throughout her life.  She also enjoyed working with friends doing film extractions for the church.

She loved spending time in the outdoors camping, fishing and doing other activities.  She also loved working in her yard and planting flowers and pulling weeds.  Having a garden every year was a necessity.

She is survived by her two children, Stanley Mervin (Susan) Richins and Virginia Richins; six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Alma Richins, her parents, her sister Doris Briskey and baby brother.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff of The Family Tree of Morgan.  As a family we would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the entire Encompass Team with a special thanks to Corey Blonquist and Justin Riches for all their love and service given to our Mom.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Henefer LDS meetinghouse, Henefer, Utah.  Viewings will be held at the Henefer church on Thursday, October 20th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services.   Interment will be at the Henefer City Cemetery.
