Listen to Obituary

Var Dell Stephens, 75, of Morgan, UT, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. Var was a devoted husband and friend to Terrie Stephens, and father to Kimberly, Lisa, Jennifer, Janell, and Joel.

Var was born to Mervin and Erma Stephens and was raised on the family homestead in Kaysville, Utah. Var was the youngest of six children, and he grew up with all the benefits of being the youngest and having his fair share of mischief. He loved riding, training, and racing horses. He also enjoyed exploring the mountains and hollows of Kaysville, hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Var graduated from Davis High School, where he met his best friend, Terrie. They were married on April 3, 1968, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 11, 1972.

Var began employment at ConSeal, eventually becoming a part-owner of the business. He ultimately became the owner and president of Multiple Concrete Enterprises, which provided for his family and countless others through the years. His occupation allowed him to travel the country and meet many wonderful people. His hard work and dedication to his business led him to become a leader in the concrete cutting and rehabilitation industry.

Some pastimes he enjoyed included restoring classic cars, farming, riding horses, and motorcycles. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and snowmobile team racing. He continued to love everything in the mountains, including hunting, hiking, and fishing. His home away from home was up Hardscrabble Canyon. Aside from all these hobbies, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

Var is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has held many callings and served in many capacities in the church. His life is a testament to what he believes. He was generous, loving, and could always be found serving others. He loves his Savior and never missed a chance to testify of Him. He left a legacy of faith that will be felt throughout his posterity for generations.

He is survived by Terrie Stephens, his wife of 57 years, his four daughters, Kimberly (Christopher) Payne, Lisa (Greg) Butikofer, Jennifer (Trevor) Ralls, Janell (Ryan) Nye, and his son, Joel (Sheri) Stephens, along with 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way. He is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Dahl and Linda Whitesides, and one brother, Layne (Carol) Stephens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin and Erma Stephens, his great-grandson, Tucker Searle, and his two brothers, Lowell and Jack Stephens.

We would like to thank the many friends and family who have visited, uplifted, and supported Var and his family—a big thank you to Danita and CNS Home Health and Hospice.
