Thomas James Beun, of Park City, UT passed away suddenly on November 20, 2025. He was born in Ridgewood, NJ to his parents Henry James Beun and Carol Helen Beun. After completing his schooling in New Jersey, Tom began his career in mechanical engineering. He worked for various companies overseeing conveyor systems for many years. Tom was a craftsman, who enjoyed carpentry and building. Tom started his own building company, Blue Sky Builders, and built a spec house or two in the New Jersey area.
In his free time, Tom explored his interests in backpacking, hiking and camping in the mountains of the northeast. An avid reader was Tom, with an insatiable interest in both World War I and II, science, and theology. His greatest passion was the love of many genres of music. Tom relentlessly listened to music, enjoyed attending concerts, and followed many artists throughout their careers. Tom loved playing his own guitar, as it was one of his prized possessions.
With the abundance of mountains to hike and nature to enjoy, Tom moved west to Park City, UT in the fall of 2008 to partake. In the spring of 2009, Tom met his wife, Cheryl Simpkiss, and they married in 2011. A year later Tom went to work for Becton Dickinson in Sandy, UT where he worked until his death.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and stepson Jordan Simpkiss. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Beun (Will Paley), sister-in-law Gale (David Beun) and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Henry Beun and Carol Beun, and his brother, David Beun.
The family wishes to thank the Park City Fire Department and University of Utah hospital emergency staff for their tireless efforts and great care.
