For my father – From Indy Hamblin
I have been thinking all day about what to say and I finally have it. That is, our family has lost a member, our grandparents have lost a son, but most importantly (at least to me) the world has lost a hero. A man who came into the world and left it better than he found it, brought people up when the world brings people down, and that hero we can never get back. To me, I lost a racer, a brother. This is not something we could control, but in my mind at least he doesn’t hurt, his shoulder, his back, he finally feels ok, but most important, I know somewhere among the stars my father is rocking out with the prince of darkness, Ozzy Osborn on a life-long rock concert. That’s what I like to think. The other thing is somewhere he’s home, racing Mario Andretti to be the fastest, but that’s my two cents.
