Sierra Amy Merrell passed away on Sunday, 5 July 2020 at her home in Eagle River, Alaska.
Our beautiful blonde-haired blue-eyed girl Sisi was born on 17 May 2006 to Jason and Camy Merrell, son and daughter of David and Nanette Merrell and Clint and Becky McCready.
During her short fourteen years with us, Sisi blessed the lives of everyone she knew! Her happy spirit and kind interaction with those around her radiated Heavenly Father’s love. She was a precociously intelligent little girl, and as she grew into a young woman, she demonstrated interests in music and art as well as literature and writing. She was skilled at the piano. She enjoyed the outdoors while she explored all parts of Alaska with her family, where her father was stationed during military service. She loved spending time with extended family in Utah and Louisiana, and she was especially fond of interacting with cousins and her grandparents at their wonderful home in Monroe, Louisiana.
Oh how she loved animals! She was skilled at dressage equestrianism and spoke often of how much she wanted a horse of her own. She took care of rabbits, chickens, birds she found, turtles and all manner of other animals. Sisi’s infectious smile and laughter was easily visible when she watched sketch comedy, or when she arranged her own plays with cousins. The tremendous ray of sunshine that is now lost with her passing is replaced by the amazing example she displayed for the world to see, and her three younger brothers have a guidepost to follow in their travels through life.
On the day she passed, she had taken the sacrament of her Savior Jesus Christ in her home in Eagle River: she was pure and clean at the time of her passing! She will be missed by her family more than any words can describe, and the loss of her presence in this life will never be overcome. We look forward to the amazing day when we shall see Sierra again, and she will be wrapped in our arms with love.
A private family graveside service for Sierra will occur on Wednesday 15 July at the Mountain Green Cemetery in Mountain Green, Utah.
