Robert Stewart

May 18, 1936 — January 24, 2016

Bob, a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and good friend, passed away at Ogden Regional Medical Center where he was being treated for pneumonia.

Bob graduated from Ogden High School and joined the Air Force as a radar operator. He would send sweetheart notes to his girl in the control tower at Tacoma Air Force Base.  He married Billie Jane Walker in 1957 and had two children.

In 1961 Bob and his family moved to Florida where he joined the Coral Gables Police Dept. K-9 Unit.  He loved his dogs that he trained.  He loved deep sea fishing and his motorcycles.

In 1970 Bob brought the family back to Utah and settled in Mtn. Green.  He went to work for Motor Cargo Truck lines and retired in 2001.  There was no settling down; he went back to work part-time for Utah Auto Auction from 2003 to 2014.

Bob was a kind and hard working man.  He was an avid outdoorsman and he always had a boat for skiing and fishing.  Bob loved hunting, camping and fishing with his best friends Bill and Tom Jaques and Cal Buetler. He talked of the Grays River often and wanted to go back this summer.  The elk he mounted was his favorite animal to hunt with his beloved friend “Bugs,” his mule. After retiring from Motor Cargo, Bob and Billie took a 3 month fishing trip to Alaska and always wanted to go back.  They traveled throughout all of the United States.  Their favorite spots were New Orleans, Alabama and Jackson Hole.

He loved his colts and fillies that he raised with one of them going to Wyoming Downs to race.  Bob and Billie loved to learn western dancing and enjoyed the friends they met along the way.

The family waiting for him in heaven are: son, Gary; his mother and father, Dorothy and Lyle; his brother, Douglas; his nephew, Doug; and his mother and father-in-law, Anne and Homer Walker

Surviving are his wife, Billie Jane Walker Stewart; daughter, Lawanna Ann; granddaughter, Sarah Jane (Marty) Kronberg; great-grandchildren: Alexandria, Martin, Alivia, Faith and Fallon; sister-in-law Iwanna Walker; sister, Jean (Ron) Smith; brother, Keith (Norma); and sister-in-law, Marilyn Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at 12 noon in the Highlands Church, 5378 W. Old Hwy Road, Mtn. Green, UT.  Friends and family may call Friday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the church.
