R. Wayne Johnson, 84, of Morgan, UT., passed away on Aug. 1, 2025. Born on April 6, 1941 in Neosho, MO, he was a devoted husband to Garnet Johnson and a loving father to David Johnson, Lila Thackeray, Brenda Brunner, and Curtis Johnson.
Wayne was hard-working and dedicated. He spent many years as a farmer, logger, welder, and an owner of an auto mechanic shop. He was also an Oyster farmer, an employee of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, bus driver for Morgan County school district, and self-employed for over 50 years as a sewing machine and vacuum cleaner specialist--he was really a jack of all trades.
Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Though Wayne may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity, and service. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Wayne’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed his sewing machine business, working in his yard, building puzzles, serving others, and watching Harry Potter, amongst other things. He was always busy, and resting was definitely not in his nature. His love for fishing is something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on them that will never fade.
He is survived by his wife, Garnet Johnson of 66 years of marriage, his children, David Johnson, Lila Thackeray, Brenda Brunner, and Curtis Johnson, his 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, his older brother, J D Johnson, as well as many friends and extended family members, who will miss him dearly.
A viewing will be held on Fri., Aug. 8, 2025 @ 10:30 am at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah (45 W 200 N). A private family service will be held.
We find comfort in knowing that Wayne’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught all of us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
