Robert Bruce (Rudd) Haws (81) of Morgan, UT returned home to his Heavenly Father peacefully in his sleep on February 26, 2026.
Robert was born October 27, 1944, to Irene J Millar and Jesse H Rudd. He was one of 3 boys (Paul, David and Robert).
Robert was adopted along with his brother Paul J Rudd on August 25, 1952, by Austin F Haws and Lucile M Haws and were later sealed as a family in the temple on October 9, 1952.
Robert grew up in Garland, UT attended Ogden High School and enlisted with the US Navy on September 4, 1963. During his career with the Navy, he spent time on the USS Monticello and during that time he married his sweetheart Gaylene (Waldron) Haws on July 22, 1966, in the Logan, UT Temple. He was later honorably discharged from the Navy in February 1967 and stayed on as inactive reserve until September 3, 1969.
Together Robert and Gaylene had 3 children, Carrie (Lonnie Fierro), Todd (Melissa Haws), and Jennifer (Chad Strong). They also have their grandchildren who loved to spend time at Gramma and Grampa’s house, and each have memories of spending time there.
Robert worked extremely hard his entire life and finally retired from Hill Field Air Force Base as a civilian on July 32, 2016. After retiring he was finally able to travel and camp more, and truly enjoy his hobbies of collecting gems, stones, and reloading ammunition. Eventually his wife’s memory took a turn, and he chose to stay home more to take care of her, and eventually staying home permanently. At one point Robert drove his wife down to the buffet in Ogden every single day for dinner for as long as he could.
Robert was honest, kind, compassionate, and a friend to all he came across. He would make friends everywhere he went. He loved to share his life stories and adventures with anyone kind and patient enough to listen.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Austin and Lucile Haws, Irene and Jim Millar, and his brothers Paul (Haws) and David (Millar).
He is survived by his wife Gaylene (Waldron) Haws, their daughter Carrie and her husband Lonnie Fierro, their children Tyson (Lindsay) Fierro, and Ashlyn (Luke) Shaw. Their son Todd and his wife Melissa Haws, their children Corinne (Hunter) Hansen, and Liam Haws. Their daughter Jennifer Haskett and her partner Chad Strong, and their children Tristessa (Alyssa) McKnight, Brextyn Bice, and Max Strong.
I (Jennifer) will miss my dad with my whole heart. Through the years he gave me a lot of advice, but the two that have stayed with me the most are “turn your tripping stones into steppingstones and show em what you’re made of…. Diamonds”, and “I’d rather wear out than rust out, but then again rust and dents look show that you lived a long life of adventures”.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Walker Mortuary (45 W 200 N, Morgan, UT 84050) from 12:00-12:45 pm. A graveside service will follow at South Morgan Cemetery (355 South State Street, Morgan, UT) at 1:00 pm.
