Richard Walton

April 13, 1918 — September 13, 2007

Morgan - Richard Melvin Walton, 89, born 13 April 1918 in American Falls, Idaho moved into eternity on 13 Sept. 2007. He was the youngest son of Wesley E. and Alba Warner Walton.

He was raised in the American Falls area and attended area schools, worked in CCC camps before the war. Dick was a veteran of WWII, having served in pack artillery/cannon unit in Australia and after being injured, as a training sergeant at Fort Sill, Oklahoma until the end of the war. Dick was an expert marksman with a pistol or rifle.

He married Donna Marie Sibbett in Riverside, Idaho on 16 November 1946. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. After working in sales, farming and his own plumbing business, Dick worked as a plumber-pipefitter for over 30 years and belonged to the Plumbers' Union in Washington State. He loved animals, farming and ranching. During his lifetime, he trained, bred, (and ran) race horses, cow cutting horses, and roping horses. He was a member of the Cassia County Sheriff's Posse at one time and was over 80 when he finally had to quit riding.

His dogs entertained state fair audiences in three states, herding ducks, sheep or cattle into ponds, pens or trailers. He trained, sold and bred Border Collies and experimented with other working breeds. He moved to Morgan, Utah and started the Utah Stock Dog association, also creating a youth program.

Dick prized honesty and made it part of his life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a ward mission leader and was an exemplary home teacher.

Dick loved his family: his wife, Donna; two daughters: Dixie (Wayne) Miller of Morgan and Linda (Bud) Schmitz of Kenmore, Washington; his seven grandchildren: Jenny (Jerry), Karl, Rich (Chandra), Jeff (Jana), Emily, Diana and Carin; five great grandchildren and special niece, Marlyn of Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ray, Mark and Tom.
