Richard D. Faddis 1947-2009
COALVILLE - Richard D. Faddis, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Thomas Andrew Faddies and Belva Lorraine Birch Faddies on April 3, 1947 and passed away Sept. 1, 2009 at his home in Coalville, Utah.
He was educated in Colorado and Utah schools, a graduate of North Summit High School and Salt Lake Valley Community College. He joined the US Navy in 1965 and served until 1971 including a tour of duty in Vietnam in the Mekong Delta assigned to a river assault force group followed by two shorter tours of duty in Vietnam. He was highly decorated for his efforts and achievements.
He married Karen Lee Newman in 1971, later divorced. Rich was a man who lived life on his own terms and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. All will remember his kindness and willingness to help others. He enjoyed fishing, travel, discussing politics with friends and arguing with his brother. He fought his battles with poor health valiantly. He worked in the building trades industry throughout the Western U.S. and thoroughly enjoyed his most recent job with North Summit School District.
Rich is survived by his son, Aaron (Patricia) and grandchildren: Gary, Cassandra, Alexis, and Ryan, all of Sacramento, California; brother, Tom (Sue) of Provo, Utah; nieces: Michelle Hudson (Steve); Cindy Faddies; and a nephew, Tom Faddies II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept 9, 2009 at 12 Noon at Walker Mortuary in Coalville. Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Coalville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
