Listen to Obituary

Richard Todd Brown returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 23, 2026, after a battle with Parkinson’s disease and liver disease. He was born on August 13, 1963, to Maurell and Betty Brown. He was raised in Morgan, Utah and graduated from Morgan High School in 1981. Upon graduation, he served an LDS mission in the Mississippi Jackson Mission in 1982 - 1984.

Richard married Jana Breshears Brown on March 23, 1985, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised three wonderful boys, Travis, Nathan, and Braden. His family was his priority and loved spending time with them, whether it be watching his kids participate in sports, teaching them the value of hard work, or 4-wheeling at the cabin.

He graduated from Ogden Technical College where he earned his journeyman plumbing degree. He loved working for himself for many years while teaching his boys the plumbing trade. He later worked for Weber State University and Hill Air Force Base as a boiler operator.

Richard’s nickname growing up was “Smiley” because he always had a smile for everyone. He has never met a stranger – he was a friend to everyone he met. His boys and the youth that he lovingly served for many years gave him the nickname of “Big Rich.” It was a title that he loved and wore it proudly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Jana Breshears Brown and their three sons, Travis (Ariel), Nathan (Ashley), and Braden (Kenzie) Brown as well as his grandchildren, Tatum, Beckam, Emerie, Maeve, Bode, and Drew. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Donna Breshears as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurell and Betty Brown, brother Bill Brown, sister Debbie Weaver, father-in-law Walter Breshears, sister-in-law Julie Breshears, and nephew Skyler Breshears.

We would like to thank Corey Blonquist and staff at Quality Home Health and Hospice; and the staff at The Family Tree, especially niece McKinlee White for her loving care of “Uncle Rico.”
