Rebecca Rees Ovard passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 1, 1945, to Clifton and Pricilla Rees. She was a sister to Tim Rees, Kerry Ann Hull, and Kathy Kercher. Rebecca was a pillar of strength and wisdom to those who knew her. She touched the lives of countless people with her generosity, kind heart, and her Christ-like love.
Rebecca graduated from North Summit High School in 1963, went on to attend BYU, and then married her high school sweetheart Randy C. Ovard, in 1966. Together, they began their family with the gospel as their foundation.
Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, friend, sister, aunt, and neighbor. She is survived by her loving family members; Shane and Michelle Anderson, David and Tricia Smith, Chava and Jill Segura, Casey and Roxann Ovard, Jared and Amber Caughlan, Justin and Sheri Hemingway, Adam and Regi Patch, Akira and Yuko Akaguma, twenty-eight grandchildren, and thirty-four great grandchildren.
Throughout her life Rebecca served in various capacities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including a service mission in Salt Lake City with her husband and serving in the Ogden Temple. She magnified every calling. She served her community as a volunteer EMT for North Summit, assisted at the Summit County Fair, and managed Grumps Gas and Grocery alongside her husband each day. She served her church and her community valiantly her entire life. She often reflected on her service to the Lord in the Ogden Temple beside her husband. But her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. Her most cherished calling was that of being a mother. She taught her children diligently to serve, develop compassion for others, and understand what it truly means to serve the Lord.
One of Rebecca’s best-known talents was loving others. She always had a way to make people feel like they mattered. Rebecca could often be found reading her scriptures in the early morning hours and writing letters to those who needed them. She would often begin each day by asking herself, “Who can I serve today?” Rebecca quietly served others, seeing others as her Savior would see them. She would always seek out the one that needed a little love. She was blessed with many talents including sewing, singing, playing the piano, baking, cooking, and planning. She always planned the best family parties.
Her legacy will live on through the memories we shared, the values she instilled, and the love she gave. Rebecca loved her Savior and would show others her testimony of Him by the way she lived her life. Her heart and home were always open to anyone and everyone who entered could feel the spirit and her love. Rebecca knew what truly mattered most in this life.
Although our hearts are saddened at this time, we celebrate the special reunions she will be having. Especially the reunion with her eternal companion. She has inspired many and will continue to inspire many to live a Christ-centered life. A life full of purpose, love, and charity. She often said that her three loves were her Savior, the gospel, and her family. She wants all to remember “The greatest gift a mother could have is to know that her children walk in faith, united in testimony of the savior, and united in love for one another.”
A viewing will be held in her honor Sunday, July 19, from 5:00pm-7:00pm
A additional viewing will be held Monday, July 20, between 9:30-10:30.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20. 2026 at 11 am at the Henefer church, 709 North Main, Henefer.
Thank you for helping us celebrate Rebecca and the life she lived.
