Coleen was born to June Louise Moulton née Moulton on 17 March 1944 in the Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Her father (Delmar Mark Moulton) liked the fact that she was born on St. Patrick’s Day and decided to give her Irish names. She was the 4th of 11 children born to her humble, kind, loving parents, and they instilled in her those same traits that she displayed throughout her life.

Most of her childhood years were spent in Ogden, Utah attending an elementary school near 12th and Washington. She then attended Ben Lomond High School, graduating in 1962. Following high school she attended Weber State College, graduating in the spring of 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with certification in Secondary Education.

Her first teaching position was in Idaho Falls, Idaho where she taught girl’s PE and coached the drill team.

When her friend Alan returned home from a U.S. Army tour of duty in Vietnam, he said “Let’s get married” and she said “OK”. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on her mother’s birthday, 9 June 1967.

After marriage they traveled to his current duty assignment at Fort Carson Colorado where she worked as a clerk for a ladies clothing store named “Fashion Bar” in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was highly respected and loved by all her supervisors, associates and customers.

Her husband Alan was sent to Germany in January 1968 and she eventually joined him there several months later. They returned to the United States in January 1969. After Alan’s Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army on 29 January 1969, they returned home and eventually took up residency in Kearns, Utah where Alan was working in a manufacturing plant.

During this period of time Coleen gave birth to two sons, Eric a few months after coming back from Germany and Ryan several years later. While living in Kearns she also started working for Zion’s Bank in the Student Loan Department in Salt Lake City. Additionally during this time she attended the University of Utah with her husband, eventually obtaining her teaching certification in Elementary Education.

She then began teaching second grade at Magna Elementary School in Magna, Utah. Some time after her husband graduated from college, they moved to Mountain Green, Utah on 4 July 1980. Coleen continued to teach in Magna commuting with another teacher for two more years after the move until the autumn of 1982 when she obtained a teaching position at Morgan Elementary School.

She taught second grade in Morgan for several years getting to know many of the families and children in the area before accepting a new position with the Utah State Department of Education in 1989. In that new role she spent two years traveling the state training other teachers on some new methods in education. During this time she also pursued higher education, gaining a Master’s Degree from Weber State University in Elementary Education in 1991.

When her position with the state concluded, she accepted a position with the Ogden School District teaching second grade at Grandview Elementary School. At the suggestion of her friend and current principal there, she decided to further her teaching abilities with an Administrative Endorsement from Utah State University.

She then accepted the position as Principal of Polk Elementary School in Ogden, Utah, beginning with the school year 1994-1995. She continued as principal at Polk Elementary through the school year 1997-1998, at which time she was moved to Lynn Elementary School to be the principal there. She remained at Lynn Elementary until that school closed at the end of the school year 2009-2010 at which time she retired.

Following her retirement from Ogden School District in 2010, she focused on her family for a while helping out where needed (tending kids, etc…) and participating in community activities such as the Morgan Community Choir. She eventually served with Alan as a Church Service Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Family History department at the Church Office Building on Temple Square from March 2015 through March 2017.

Children were her life’s work and she dedicated her life to them. They were always very important to her and she spent her entire life as an advocate for them. She always held a deep love and respect for all children and knew that educating them was the most rewarding thing she could ever do. She believed that children are the future leaders of the community, state, nation and the world. They were one of the dearest things to her heart.

She was a lovely lady with high standards, integrity, honor, and dependablity. She was quite strong-willed, which gave her the strength and courage to face the challenges that confronted her throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all of us whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, two older sisters and one younger sister.

Coleen is survived by her husband Alan, two sons Eric (Christeenia) and Ryan (Julie) and six grandchildren: Emmy, Josie, Kaydee, Alex, Nic and Abby.

In addition to her own children, Coleen also contributed to the raising of her step-daughter Amy (Maxx) who has nine descendants of her own.
