Owen Durrant

July 25, 1940 — November 25, 2014

MORGAN – Owen Raymond (Ray) Durrant peacefully passed away on November 25, 2014, due to complications from a stroke.

Ray was born on July 25, 1940 to Morris Dale and Hazel Florence Durrant. Ray was a lifelong resident of Morgan, graduating from Morgan High and then going to work for Ideal Cement Plant, later Holcim Inc. Ray also spent many years as a mink farmer.

On June 13, 1968, Ray married the love of his life, Marilyn Muir Durrant. Together they had three children; Melissa (Mardell) Nelson, their children Tyler and Mallory, Harrisville, UT; Mark (Nancy), their children Ashley and Shelby, Durrant, Henefer, UT; and Mike Durrant, Morgan, UT. On August 30, 2014, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Temple.

Ray was an avid hunter, but his favorite pastime was trap shooting. He shot trap for as long as his body would allow him to. He met many wonderful friends through trap shooting .

Ray is also survived by daughters: Shauna Durrant, Redding, CA, her son Travis (Holly) Durrant, Layton, UT; and Dauneen Durrant, Helena, MT, her son Rilan Durrant. He is also survived by his two brothers: Morris (Larraine) Durrant and Ken (Kris) Durrant.  Also two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan, and his in-laws Melvin Cleo and Donna Frew Muir.

The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to three very special CNA’s: Sammy Smith, Rachel Halverson, and Dawn Hamblin.

Graveside services will be held Monday December 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the South Morgan Cemetery. Viewings will be held on Sunday, November 30, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Walker Mortuary in Morgan.
