Shirley Nye

Mom passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 85 years old.

Mom was born in San Francisco, California, to Arthur and Maryan Nelson. She married Larry Robert Nye, and together they raised 7 children.

Mom loved her family more than anything. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family, and she cherished every moment she spent with them. She loved being Nana to her grandchildren. She was always happy, had a positive attitude, and enjoyed being around people. She rarely had a negative thing to say and always made those around her feel loved.

Mom was an excellent seamstress and loved making things for her family. She made quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and every one of her great-grandchildren. The quilts she made will be treasured by her family for years to come. She also knitted beanies and spent time working on humanitarian projects to help others.

Mom was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many Church callings, including Relief Society president, Sunday School teacher, Primary teacher, nursery leader, and many others.

She served two missions, one in the Ogden Inner City Mission and another in Kirtland, Ohio. She also served at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City and spent eight years serving in the temple. She loved the gospel and enjoyed serving others.

Mom is survived by her husband, Larry Robert Nye; her 7 children: Scott Nye (Tammy), Troy Nye (Shana), Randy Nye (Shauna), Natalie Zuech (Tony), Cody Nye (Tanaya), Ryan Nye (Janell), and David Nye (Natalie); her sister, Diane Child (Francis); and 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mom will be remembered for her positive attitude, her faith, her love of serving others, and most importantly, her love for her family.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A viewing will take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 1st, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Enterprise Church, 2755 W Old Hwy Rd, Mountain Green, UT. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with interment at the Mountain Green Cemetery.
