Michael Wallace Cusick, age 73 of Morgan, Utah passed on to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Michael was born to Joan and Harold Cusick on March 18, 1949 in Vermillion, South Dakota. He was the third of six children.  Growing up he spent his younger years working the family farm.  He loved farm life, especially working as a family.  He cherished these memories throughout his life. His dad taught him the value of hard work early in life, and his mom taught him how to love.  Mike graduated from Vermillion High School in 1968 and attended the University of South Dakota where he studied Sociology.  He interrupted his studies to hitchhike around Europe for 6 months and then traveled the Western United States.  During this journey, he was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.   He loved being an active member of the church. He loved reading the scriptures and poured over God’s words throughout his life.

While exploring Colorado he met his first love, Roseanne Wells. They married May 31, 1974 and had four children Tasha, Ryan, Heidi and Andrea.   They settled in Bayfield, Colorado where they raised their children.  He worked for Mercy Medical Center in Durango, Colorado, where he retired after a 30 year career in radiology.  Michael loved being a father and husband. He spent his time adventuring with his family in the high mountains and lakes. He loved kayaking, and spent lots of time on the water exploring the many lakes in the Four Corners.  Mike loved people and was loved in return, he never met a stranger.   He was always willing to help those around him. His personal approach to those around him made him a neighborhood favorite.  Mike loved studying history, discussing gospel topics, teaching his kids, collecting antiques, gardening, taking care of the many apple trees on his property, tending his flock of chickens, and anything outdoors. He lived a full life of love, laughter and adventure.

In 2016 Michael’s life changed when his wife Roseanne, passed away.  In 2018 he met Janet Rice, fell in love, and were married in 2019 in Morgan, Utah, where they have resided since. They were later sealed in the Bountiful Temple.  Mike and Janet loved their time in retirement together, enjoying four-wheeling trips, pickleball games with friends, trips to see grandchildren, board and card games, and camping expeditions.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents Joan and Harold Cusick, his sister Barbara, and wife Roseanne. He is survived by his wife, Janet Cusick; his brothers Tim Cusick, George Cusick and sisters: Kathy Davis-Weidoff and Ruth Ting; his children Tasha (Grant) Bigler, Ryan Cusick, Heidi (Chet) Simper, Andrea (Justin) Barnum and his twelve grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Canyon Hospice, especially Denise, for her care to Mike and the family.
