Meresa Oldham Judd, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on June 28, 2026. She was born July 12, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ernest Whitney Oldham and Ruth Mintor McBride. Raised in Coalville, Utah, she grew up in a home shaped by service, sacrifice, and deep devotion. Reflecting on her life, she once wrote, “Life has been good! My Heavenly Father has blessed me.”
Meresa graduated from North Summit High School, where she excelled academically and participated in student leadership, band, and dance. Her early years were marked by both joy and profound loss. She lost her father just before her twelfth birthday and her mother during her senior year, experiences that deepened her compassion and sense of responsibility—especially for her younger siblings, Whit, Mary, and Susie. She later helped raise her youngest sister, Susie.
At sixteen, Meresa met the love of her life, Edwin LaVar “Bud” Judd. After Bud returned from serving a mission, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 22, 1957. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. They welcomed four daughters—Laura (Jeff), Ruth (Steve), Holly (Kent), and Audrey (Scott)—each of whom brought great joy and purpose to Meresa’s life.
Education and service were lifelong pursuits for her. After supporting Bud through his studies, Meresa completed her own degree in Elementary Education at Weber State University and became a first-grade teacher in the Morgan School District. For more than thirty years, she taught more than 800 children, cherishing the relationships she formed with students, parents, and colleagues.
Meresa’s family was her greatest treasure. She delighted in her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and found joy in every gathering, celebration, and milestone. She also carried tender memories of her sister Susie, whose passing in 1985 was one of the deepest sorrows of her life.
In retirement, Meresa embraced the blessings of time—family gatherings at the cabin, family history, church service, reading, gardening, and cheering enthusiastically for BYU sports. She lived with gratitude, faith, and a steady trust in her Heavenly Father.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Highland Glen Assisted Living and Suncrest Hospice for their devoted and compassionate care during the past two and a half years. Their kindness brought comfort and dignity to Meresa's final season of life.
Meresa leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, resilience, testimony, and gentle strength. Her family rejoices in the promise of eternal families and looks forward to a joyful reunion.
