Max Bardell Creager passed away July 15, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Dad was born September 5, 1932 to Sidney Merriel Creager and Cleora Peterson Creager in Morgan.
Dad was born with one leg shorter than the other. His parents took him to a chiropractor. They were able to fix it.
Dad has always loved horses. He got his first horse as a youth. He would spend a lot of time riding all over Morgan County.
Dad served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Veterans of foreign wars.
Dad married Thelma Mae Poppleton on August 3, 1955 in the Logan Temple. They raised six children.
Dad taught math for 30+ years at Morgan High School. He also coached high school sports. Dad always said he was a math teacher who coached. He retired in 1995.
Dad was involved in many church callings. He spent many summers going to scout camps.
Dad’s wife, Thelma, passed away in December 1999.
Dad married his second love, Gailene Bateman, in July of 2000.
Dad loved to travel; his favorite place was Yellowstone.
Dad and Gailene spent many years working in the temple. But his favorite place was the temple baptistry.
Dad and Gailene served a mission in Huntsville, Texas. They spent a wonderful time teaching at the institute at Sam Houston University.
Dad was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma, his parents, his brothers Sid & Jareld, and sister Donna Jones.
Dad is survived by his wife, Gailene; his sons Jack (Marcie), Kim (Lydia), Mike (Tara), Myron (Marie); his daughters Kelly (Howard) Thurston and Jill (Brent) Hipwell, 25 grandkids and 28 great grandkids and 3 on the way. His brother, Wayne Creager.
We would like to thank the staff at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home for all their help, the Bateman Family for welcoming him into their family and making him a part of theirs, and Inspiration hospice for all their help.

A viewing will be held Monday, July 20, 2026 at Walker Mortuary (45 W 200 N, Morgan, UT 84050) from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Roy 11th Ward Building (2175 W. 4250 S, Roy, UT 84067) at 11:00 am with a viewing prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment South Morgan Cemetery.
