Mary Rigby

July 4, 1936 — August 31, 2012

Our gracious and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Aug. 31, 2012 surrounded by loving family. The effects of Alzheimer's claimed her life, but she remained sweet, smiling, and loving to the end.

She was born in the LA County Hospital on July 4, 1936 to William Pliny Palmer and Mary Frances Messer. She spent her childhood in California. When her parents passed away, she went to live with her Grandfather, Joseph Messer, in Cedar City, Utah.

She married her sweetheart, Bruce Eldro Rigby, Dec. 2, 1953. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. They enjoyed going on trips together and spending time in nature. As a teenager, she embraced the gospel and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She remained faithful, serving in all of the auxiliaries, including 3 stake missions with her husband in Arizona and Utah. She was a gifted artist and had many talents. She loved working with her hands and studied to learn many different crafts over the years. Her artistic work inspired others and was appreciated by family and friends. She won many ribbons for her handiwork. She was an avid reader, did family history and temple work, loved animals (especially cats), and was an excellent cook.

Survived by: her husband, Bruce; her children, Kirk (Becky ),North Ogden; Lynette (Blaine-dec.) Taylorsville; Mark, Elko, NV; Dave, Moab; 15 beloved grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: grandaughter, Marnie Ann; brother, Frank Palmer; parents and grandparents.

The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice, and the many others who helped, for their loving and kind service.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Coalville Stake Chapel. A viewing will be held at the church, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery Saturday at 10 a.m.
