Mary Rich

March 12, 1919 — June 13, 2011

Mary Jane Settle Rich, 92, of Paris, Idaho passed away on June 13, 2011 of causes incident to age.

She was born March 12, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to William Elmer and Ella Harris Settle. She was the fourth of eight children. She married Spencer Haines Rich on November 29, 1937 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 6, 1942.

Mary Jane attended schools in Tremonton, Utah; Afton, Wyoming; Montpelier, Idaho; and Las Vegas, Nevada. She received her LPN degree from Utah Technical College in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 19, 1971, graduating with honors. She worked as an LPN at Weber County Hospital, Dixie Pioneer Memorial Hospital, St. Benedict's Hospital, and Bear Lake Memorial Hospital from where she retired on August 1, 1983.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a visiting teacher, assistant ward librarian, member of the ward choir, and a tabernacle tour guide.

She was a fun and devoted mother and grandmother, and her greatest joys came from times spent with family. She leaves behind a treasure of memories and a legacy of love.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane (Darryl) Hafen, Santa Clara, Utah; Eleanor Wilkes, Morgan, Utah; and one son, Spencer (Laurie) Rich, Paris, Idaho; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Her husband, parents, four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be held in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel, 702 Clay Street, Montpelier, Idaho on Saturday, June 18 at 12:30 p.m. Friends and family may call prior to the services from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity for the blind.

Interment will be in the Paris cemetery.

We wish to thank the staffs of Morgan Family Tree and Hospice for Utah for their kind and caring service, and a heartfelt thanks to another loving friend and caregiver, Pam Jensen.
