Martin Ray Facer of Layton, Utah passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, due to complications from his lifelong battle with epilepsy.

Martin was born as the fourth of six children to his parents Theodore “Ted” and Shirleen Facer on August 6, 1963. Growing up, his family lived in Herriman, Utah and Alta Loma, California, and as a young man, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission.

Martin had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ, which he demonstrated throughout his life by serving everyone around him. He never desired notoriety or praise for his service and often served in the background, without fanfare or even acknowledgement. He shared his love and faith through service, and on any given evening, he could be found in the garage creating a toy for a child in need, helping a loved one fix an appliance, or weeding an elderly neighbor’s yard.

In 1993, he married his loving wife, Kelleen Rust Facer, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. They went on to raise three children: Rusty, Martina, and Charlie. Martin was a devoted husband and a loving father who taught his children self-reliance, hard work, and service. His grandchildren Talmage, Quynnlyn, Zorrin, Jemma, Clark, and Micah were the highlight of his life, and he had no greater joy than teaching them his love for gardening, taking care of animals, and spending time with family.

Martin worked in a variety of different fields, including work for General Dynamics, welding, and over 20 years working for HF Sinclair performing chemical testing on petroleum products. He was always willing to help coworkers, often devising clever tools from wood or metal to make their work easier.

Martin will be remembered as a skilled carpenter who shared his talents widely and without reserve. Whether it was wooden swords for his grandchildren, picture frames for weddings, or beautiful birdhouses for friends, family, and the public to enjoy, his artistic skills were second to none. He provided joy to hundreds of people that have received his work, and many birds now have beautiful homes due to his loving craftsmanship.

Martin’s bravery in overcoming physical and mental challenges, his legacy of hard work, and his tender care through selfless, quiet service will live on for generations, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
