Marlene Creager Peterson passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 91, in her home surrounded by her family.
Marlene was born on July 1, 1935, in Morgan, Utah, to Lester and Alta Creager. She spent her early years in Echo, Utah, before her family moved to Morgan. She attended Morgan High School, where she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Scott.
Scott and Marlene were married on March 18, 1954, beginning a lifetime together that would grow to span 72 years. They raised four sons, Randy, Mike, Paul, and Chris, and built their life in Morgan. Scott and the boys worked together on the family farm, while Marlene kept everything else going. She loved taking care of everyone. She cooked their meals, did the laundry, kept the house running, and made sure her family had what they needed. And while she may have been the housewife of the family, that certainly didn't mean she wasn't willing to get her hands dirty alongside the guys when needed.
Outside of the home, Marlene spent 42 years working for the Morgan County Assessor's Office. During those years, she became a familiar face to many throughout the community and dedicated a large part of her life to serving the county she called home.
Horses were also a special part of Scott and Marlene's life together. They spent many days at the horse races watching their own horses run. No matter how many races they attended, they always sat in the same spot, watching together. It became one of those simple traditions that was uniquely theirs.
Above everything else, Marlene's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved when they came to visit and loved watching her family grow from four sons to grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and eventually great-great-grandchildren. She had an especially soft spot for babies and was never happier than when there was a little one for her to hold.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Alta; her brother, Don; her sister, Leanne; her brother-in-law, Larry; and her sister-in-law, Barbra.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Scott; her brother, Verl (Gay); her four sons, Randy (Susan), Mike (Terri), Paul, and Chris; as well as her 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Milton Church House (1255 N. Morgan Valley Dr., Morgan, UT 84050) from 6:00-8:00 pm.
