Marjorie Taggart

November 29, 1930 — December 13, 2014

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister left the loving arms of her earthly family on December 13, 2014 after a short illness. She was 84 and was the rock of her family after the passing of her loving husband, Dewey Wadsworth Taggart, in 1999 after 49 years of marriage.

Marge was born on November 29, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to Harvey Smith and Alta Irene Goodenough. She lived in a one-room cabin at her father's homestead in Big Hollow, north of Morgan, until she was three. She grew up in Ogden and Morgan as she spent time living with her extended family of grandparents, uncles and aunts. After she and her high school sweetheart, Dude, were married, he spent over a year enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and she served as a civilian.

When they returned to Morgan in 1951 they started to work in the family business at Taggart's Camp in Weber Canyon. They made many friends both far and wide before they sold the business in 1981. She and Dude raised their children to love hard work and to have faith, which has led to success in their lives and in their families. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully for many years as a visiting teaching supervisor in the Relief Society.

Marge loved to garden and spent time writing the family's history. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and loved serving in various positions over the years. She was an artist and enjoyed oil painting too.

She is survived by her two sons; Shane (Janet) Taggart, and Trase (Andrew Colvin) Taggart, and her two daughters; Michele (Dan) Butler, and Kodi Taggart, and a much loved group of six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Teresa Taggart, her son Tad Smith Taggart, and by her grandson Cole Dylan Wright.

Members of the family would like to thank Brianna Wamsley and Carrie Fierro from Burchcreek Homecare & Hospice for the kindness and care given to Mom and the family during her last week at home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec 17, 2014 at 12 noon in the Milton/Stoddard Ward Chapel, 1255 S. Morgan Valley Drive, Morgan. Friends and family may call at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m..

Interment, South Morgan Cemetery.
