On Friday, May 16, 2025, Marilyn Muir Durrant passed away peacefully at her home with her family around her.
She was born on October 4, 1948, to Melvin and Donna Frew Muir. She was raised in Clinton, Utah, and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1966.
Marilyn lost her mother at the young age of 19. Her father later married Dalene Horspool and she gained another brother as well four new sisters.
In June of 1969, Marilyn married the love of her life, Owen Raymond (Ray) Durrant. Even though they were married on Friday the 13th, they were happily married until Ray’s passing in November 2014. Before Ray passed, they chose to have their marriage sealed for time and all eternity in the Bountiful LDS Temple on August 30, 2014.
Marilyn worked in the kitchen at Morgan Middle School as a school lunch cook and later becoming manager. There she met many lifelong friends. She absolutely enjoyed the kids she met during her time there and still talked and visited with many of them over the years. She retired in 2011 after 33 years.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Melissa (Mardy) Nelson and Mark (Nancy) Durrant. Also surviving her are four grandchildren Tyler, Mallory, Ashley and Shelby as well as one great granddaughter, Callie Rae. Her brother Alan Muir, stepbrother Lynn Horspool and stepsisters Marlene McCoy, Connie Lasater, Kathy Oliver, and Lori Malan also survive her. Marilyn also leaves behind countless friends she met over the years. Whether it was friends she’d met going with Ray trapshooting over the years, water aerobics in Clearfield, or friends she’d made right here in Morgan. She had a special bond with each and every one of them.
She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Ray, her youngest son Michael, her parents Melvin and Donna, stepmother Dalene, brother Robert Muir, and sister-in-law Dania Muir.
She will be remembered for her funny and vibrant spirit and for her never ending love of puzzles. There wasn’t a time you’d not see her at the table putting a puzzle together.
Mom, we love you so much! You are going to be deeply missed especially by Callie. She was so lucky to have had over seven years with her great grandma hanging out after school and seeing you almost daily.
