Margieann Egan Boss

Margieann Egan was born on September 9, 1941, in San Jose, California to Russell William Egan and Anita Effie Fine. She was the youngest of four children and the only girl. She was a surprise to her parents who at the time had 3 sons ages 14, 19, & 20. Her father was a baker by trade, and her parents ran a bakery in San Jose where Margieann spent many hours as a child when not being cared for by her Grandma Fine.

Margieann attended and graduated from Notre Dame High School in June of 1959. She participated in many activities as a youth including dance and being a majorette. Margieann became an instructor at Bessie Clark’s Fancy Steppers dance studio and led many groups in various local parades. As a talented dancer, she was recommended by Danny Kaye to join the June Taylor Dancers in New York. Before long, she decided that lifestyle did not suit her and returned to California.

In June of 1965, Margieann married Ronald Earl Boss in San Jose, California. They were later sealed in the Oakland California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Margieann and Ron have six children, a daughter and five sons, one of which is disabled.

While the children were young, Margieann opened her own dance studio and taught out of her home. She also spent time working in the schools of the Gilroy Unified School District. Margieann played a vital role in advocating for disabled children by participating on school boards and compiling a list of resources for parents of disabled children. She and Ron took guardianship of a young man for a few years who became like a son to them.

After moving to Beaverton, Oregon in the early 1990’s, Margieann opened a daycare in her home. She served and loved countless families and children whom she loved dearly. Margieann was honored by American Mothers, Inc. with the 2010 Bertha Holt “Service to Children” Award.

Throughout the years Margieann served in many capacities in the Church including Primary, Scouting, and Relief Society. In her later years, she continued her life of service by fulfilling a call to be a Service Missionary in a downtown Portland branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was well known by local social workers as someone advocating for and helping those who needed help.

Margieann was loved by all who knew her. She truly loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and shared that love with all. She continually loved and supported all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their pursuits and was proud of every accomplishment. Her traits of compassion, love, understanding, and patience are her legacy to her children and those who knew her best. She will definitely leave a hole in all of our hearts.

Margieann was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Russell William Egan Jr., Spencer Robert Egan, and Garvin David Egan, a daughter-in-law; Valeria Martinez Boss, three grandchildren; Amanda Marie Been, Nathaniel Joseph Been, and Joshua Ronald Boss. She is survived by her husband, Ron, daughter Julieann Been (David), sons Paul (Nancy Anderson), Alan, Bret (Jill Nickerson), Darren, Glenn (Meghan Little), 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Wasatch Care Givers, Family Tree Assisted Living, and Quality Home Health and Hospice for their loving care and service to Margieann over the past four years.

A viewing will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 9:00-9:45 am at the Field Street Church House (240 S 300 W, Morgan, UT 84050) and the funeral service will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will be at the South Morgan Cemetery.
