M. Wilde

January 28, 1928 — January 12, 2012

CROYDON - Marcus Reed Wilde passed away at home on Thursday, January 12th, 2012, after a courageous fight with pulmonary fibrosis 16 days prior to his 84th birthday. He was born on January 28th, 1928, in Croydon, UT the son of Marcus Reed Toone Wilde and Lena Valliere Chappell. Reed graduated from Morgan High School in 1946 where he served as student body president. He married his high school sweetheart, Camille Fry, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 7, 1948. They settled in Croydon and dedicated their lives to their family, church, community, and their beloved sheep and cattle ranch in the hills of Croydon.

Reed served in the Croydon Ward Bishopric for 14 years and then as Bishop for 11 years. He also served as a High Councilor as well as several other church callings. Fulfilling a life dream, he and Camille served together as missionaries on the island of St. Croix in the Puerto Rico, San Juan Mission and as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple for 12 years.

Reed served on the Morgan County School Board for 16 years. He was a member of the Utah School Boards Association, serving a term as President. Reed also served on the Board of Directors for the Western Region of the National School Boards Association. He served on the Morgan County Planning Commission and a four-year term on the Morgan County Council.

Reed was respected and loved by all who knew and worked with him. You will be greatly missed "Pop".

He is survived by his wife and children: Kelly (Fayette) Wilde, Manila, UT; Eric (Nancy) Wilde, Croydon, UT; Evelyn (Greg) Jones, of Gilbert, AZ; Sherolyn (Mel) Gause, Allen TX; Jamie (Dana) Wilde, Morgan, UT; daughter in law (Kristi Wilde Ostler), Hooper, UT; brothers Jon (RaNae) Wilde, McKinnon, WY and Robert (Debbie) Wilde, Lake Havasu, AZ; 22 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Marcus M. Wilde, brothers Theron, David, and Bert.

The family would like to thank Alpine Home Health and the many caregivers who have devoted their time and kindness to Reed's care.

Friends may visit family on Sunday January 15, 2012 between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary Morgan, UT and on Monday January 16, 2012 between 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the Morgan Stake Center. Funeral services will be held at the Morgan Stake Center at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in the Croydon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund.
