Lonnie Lee Cox

July 22, 1952 — May 20, 2025

Morgan

Our caring and devoted sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 in Morgan, UT. Lonnie Lee Cox was born July 22, 1952 in Ogden, UT to Robert and Arvella Cox. She was their first child and was born while her dad was serving in Korea with the Air Force. Lonnie and sister Linda lived in England in the little town of Fakenham for three years, as well Colorado, California and Idaho. Along these adventures, Bob and Arvy had two sons, Randy and Doug.

Lonnie graduated from Morgan High School, and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Juneau, Alaska. She worked at Hill Air Force Base and retired after 30 years. After retirement, she became a bus aid assisting with the special-needs students for many years. She loved serving others in the Church, and was deeply committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She served and ministered to others in the Church in many capacities for decades.

Lonnie was so very loved, as she spent her life caring for others. She raised her niece, Sherie, as if she was her own child. Lonnie will always be a huge part of all her niece and nephews’ lives, as she loved them dearly. They all have memories of Lonnie supporting them at their sporting events, activities, and programs. She was always in the crowd, proudly cheering them on throughout their lives. For years, she and her mother would host a Saturday homemade pizza dinner for their family to gather together. Lonnie never missed a phone call to her family members on their birthdays and anniversaries. She did everything in love, expecting nothing in return. Everyone knew they would always be greeted by Lonnie with kindness, understanding, and acceptance.

Lonnie is survived by her niece/daughter Sherie (Tel) Carter. Siblings Linda Herman, Randy (Carrie) Cox, and Doug (Kim) Cox, and is the loving aunt of 8 nieces and nephews and their spouses, and her many great-nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Family Tree Assisted Living for their kind, patient care of Lonnie during her time there.
