Leatha Mikesell

May 1, 1954 — July 2, 2014

Leatha Rae Mikesell, 60, our beloved Aunt “E”, Sister, Nan “E”, cousin, and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father, July 2, 2014. She was born, May 1, 1954, in Ogden, Utah to Wendell and Dorline Mikesell.

Leatha grew up in Morgan, Utah, and spent her childhood with her siblings caring for animals, making mud pies, sorting cabbage plants, making sodas at her Grandpa Rock’s cafe, and helping her mom uphold long-lived holiday traditions - like decorating the house with Christmas decor, and filling October with black and orange, warm apple cider and haunted houses; Traditions she then passed on to her family. Leatha cherished the time she spent decorating and spending time with family during the holidays.

She graduated from Morgan High School, in 1972. After which, she went to work at the LDS Church’s Genealogy Library. Later, she excelled as a secretary at Hill Air Force Base, before working as the CTE Secretary at Morgan High School.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Leatha served in several church callings, often as a ward or relief society chorister - a calling she loved dearly. She received her temple endowments at the Ogden Temple in 1989.

She loved her family first, held her friends close, and was a force to be reckoned with if you crossed them. Leatha’s endearing spirit transformed simple movie nights, telephone calls, and phrases into priceless memories - no one else could say "I'll rip your face off" so lovingly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Dorline Mikesell, and her sister Annette Mikesell.

She is survived by six siblings: Kim Mikesell (Laura), Samuel Mikesell (Laura), Merinda Mikesell (Chris), Mitchell Lindsay, Chad Mikesell (Jenica), and Shandalee Martin (Spencer), her nephews and nieces: Tyrel Mikesell (Kathleen), Brody Mikesell (Samantha), K.C. Mikesell, Jordan Mikesell, and Andrew Mikesell (Jordan). As her family we want her to know, “We love your guts.”
