Keith Gary Coy

May 17, 1937 — July 3, 2025

Morgan

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Keith Gary Coy, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Keith was born on May 17, 1937 in Ogden, Utah, to Vern Allen Coy and Vonda May Thurston. He was the second of 5 siblings. After graduating from Weber High School in 1955, Keith spent the summer working as a busboy at the Canyon Hotel in Yellowstone National Park, where he enjoyed hiking and exploring the park’s natural beauty.

In 1957, Keith enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he trained as a heavy equipment operator and served overseas in Korea near the DMZ. His military service took him across the world—to Japan, Korea, and multiple stateside bases—where he served his country with honor and diligence. Even during his time abroad, Keith remained committed to his faith in Jesus Christ, attending Church whenever he could, often walking miles just to get there.

In August 1962, a blind date arranged by a coworker changed everything—he met his eternal companion, Daylene Nalder. Sealed in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple on July 19, 1963, Keith and Daylene spent 61 beautiful years together, raising five wonderful children and building a home rooted in love, faith, and joyful service.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keith served faithfully in many callings—including years as ward clerk, a dedicated ministering brother, and more. His quiet strength and willingness to serve reflected a deep and abiding testimony. He and Daylene served together in the Church’s Ogden Inner-City Mission, distributing gospel materials and blessing lives through their shared compassion.

Keith also volunteered as an EMT and ambulance worker, generously giving his time to help others. He had a passion for radio communications—his ham radio call sign, KG7FH, was a favorite of his and even graced his license plate for many years.

Above all, Keith was a devoted husband and proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was happiest surrounded by family. He had quite the sweet tooth. He loved sugar toast and always kept a drawer stocked with Werther’s caramels—ready to share with the grandkids. He never missed a game, performance, or milestone, showing up with steady support and love.

He loved the outdoors—especially if it meant time on his riding lawn mower or going camping, hunting, or fishing. His humor, gentle wisdom, and constant care left a lasting mark. Grandpa was always looking out for us—reminding us to “keep it five under” the speed limit, checking in to make sure we got home safely, and telling us to “behave ourselves.” His quiet presence made everyone feel safe, seen, and loved.

Keith is now reunited with his beloved Daylene. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and love that lives on in all of us.

Until we meet again—he and Grandma will be near, watching over us. KG7FH signing off.

Keith is survived by his five children: Andrea (Jason) White, Kristine (Mike) Krammer, Matthew (Lisa) Coy, Nathan (Kate) Coy, and Jennifer (Matt) McKee; twenty-eight grandchildren: Casey (Laice) Butler, Brandi (Shaun) Petersen, Kylee (Jason) Dagsen, Katelyn White (Luke McGregor), Steven (Koda) Krammer, Kelsey (Joshua) Keller, Cassidy Young (Tyler Nelson), Austin (Kambri) Coy, Ashton Coy (Anyssia Mestas), Makenzie Coy (Jared Jordan), Kaden Mathews, Broc (McKinlee) Mathews, Trace Mathews (Jeff Hsia), Kylee McKee, Ryker McKee, and Finnigan Coy; and seven great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Liam, Avery, Jovie, Lyriq, Emory, and Lucas—each of whom was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Lynn and Bruce, and his sister, Carol.

Keith is preceded in death by his eternal companion, Daylene; his parents, Vern Allen Coy and Vonda May Thurston; and his brother, Dale.
