John Trussell

John Keith Trussell, 52, of St. Paul, Nebraska, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska of multiple sclerosis.
He was born Sept. 15, 1961, to Donald F and Doris (Kippen) Trussell in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in Morgan, Utah, with four brothers and a sister. He graduated from Morgan High School in 1979.
The family later moved to Henefer. He got his contractor’s license and the 5-T Construction Co. was formed. He worked with his brothers and father doing siding and building homes in Utah and Arizona.
On June 14, 1991, he married his eternal companion Korlynn Backus in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 12. In 1998, he received a kidney transplant from his older brother, Kent. The two of them were honored as Olympic torch bearers for the 2002 Olympics in Utah.
In 1999, he and his wife moved to Gillette, where he worked at Bloedorn Lumber. He then went to work for Rail Link and later Savage Co.’s operating locomotive trains at the local coal mines. He also taught classes on operating locomotives and safety.
In June 2003, he suffered a heart attack and had to have quadruple bypass surgery.
In 2006, he was offered his dream job to be a cowboy and help his parents with their cattle ranch in Worland.
In 2010, he had a seizure and after months of tests, it was determined he had MS. The disease hit him hard and fast, taking over his motor skills. Therefore, in 2012, they moved to St. Paul.
In January, he was placed in a health care facility.
Despite all of his health problems, he was an avid hunter of elk, deer and antelope. In June 2012, he went black bear hunting with a guide from Wyoming Outfitters and got an award for the second-largest bear.
He is survived by his loving wife, Korlynn; parents, Don and Doris of Worland; brothers Kim and Kent, of Henefer, Utah, Jim of Coalville, Utah, and Jeff of Morgan, numerous nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and sister, Teresa Kaye.
A gathering of family and friends was held Tuesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Island, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May12, 2014 at 11 am at the Henefer, Utah LDS Church. Visitations will be held Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm and Monday from 9:00 to 10:45 am prior to the services. Burial will be at the Henefer Cemetery.
