Jay Ovard

October 19, 1946 — February 28, 2014

HENEFER a�" Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather died suddenly at home Friday February 28, 2014. He was born on October 19, 1946 in Coalville, Utah. Jay is the eldest son of Douglas and Thelma Ovard. He attended grade school in Henefer and graduated from North Summit High School and Seminary in May of 1964.

Jay was called to serve in the Canadian Alberta Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served for two years and spent much of his mission time working with the Indians. He loved his mission.

Jay married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Brown on October 6, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Jay worked for Ideal Basic Industries/Holcim for 29 years as Quality Control Supervisor and other jobs. Jay and Dorothy's family and friends enjoyed their Taco Booth at the Summit County Fair for many years.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and held many callings as Home Teacher, High Priest Presidency and Teacher, Elders Quorum, Young Men Presidencies, and Stake Auditor to name a few.

He was currently the Chairman of the Henefer Town Board of Adjustments, serving for the last eight years. He was also on the Board for the Henefer Pipeline Co.

Jay loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them hunting, fishing and on vacations to Strawberry Reservoir. He loved coaching basketball and following his children and grandchildren in their sports activities.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; Children: Kelly (Carrie); Robyn (Tony) Rowser; Julie (Clint) Christofferson; Brock (Monique); Daniela (Michael) Fitzner; and 14 grandchildren; brother: Kevin (Nancy) Ovard, he is also survived by two foster sisters: Effie and Julie Fowler.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Thelma and one granddaughter, Marissa Grace Christofferson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Henefer Chapel. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 a�" 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 a�" 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Henefer City Cemetery.
