Iris Adelaide Adams Heiner, 86, returned to her Heavenly home in the early hours of November 24, 2024, as her devoted family surrounded the bedside and lovingly bid her farewell from this earthly existence. No doubt, she was warmly greeted on the other side by her sweetheart, daughter, sisters and parents.
Iris was born on August 25, 1938, in the old family home in Porterville, to Kenneth T. and Gwendolyn Adams. Her two older sisters excitedly welcomed her to the family. A few short years later, two more sisters joined them and this quintet would build a sisterly bond that would last throughout their lifetimes.
Iris attended school in Morgan and would become the drum majorette for the Trojan Marching Band. During her high school years, she met her sweetheart, Kay (Butch) Heiner. The couple were quite an item at MHS as Butch escorted her in his old Model A hotrod around the town. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 7, 1957. Heavenly Father blessed them with four exceptional children; Lori, Bret, Lynette and Kevin.
She had a friendly, but firm personality and reflected the best of her pioneer heritage at home and work. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored her warmth and compassion, always putting their interest and welfare above her own.
Iris loved to garden and care for her flowers, especially roses. She kept a meticulous house and stunning yard. To her, “Cleanliness was next to Godliness.”
For Years she served in the Morgan School District Food Services program. She was famous for her hot rolls and scrumptious desserts. Each year family and neighbors awaited a bowl of her generational tipsy cake. She and her sisters, Alice and Marcia, catered numerous social events including the annual Lion’s Club Christmas party.
Iris was a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served where she was called. She loved children and spent many years in the Primary program. She and Butch assisted for many years as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple.
She valued her lifelong friendships with classmates and neighbors. Her laugh would permeate the air as she talked about adventures she had shared with these good souls. Friends meant a lot to her.
Iris will be deeply missed by her children Bret (Jami) Heiner of Ogden, and Lynette (Matt) Wilson, and Kevin (Jessica) Heiner of Morgan, 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and siblings Sylvia Germer, Ken G. Adams, Les Adams and Chet Adams. She was proceeded in death by her husband Kay (Butch) Heiner, daughter Lori Webster, parents Kenneth and Gwen Adams and sisters Connie Hanney, Alice Preece and Marcia Leak.
