Howard Ray Giles passed away on December 7, 2025, at his home. He was born on April 13, 1948, to Arthur Frederick and Norine Giles, he was the 3rd and youngest child. He was raised and lived his life in Milton, Utah.
He graduated from Morgan High School and attended Weber College, but he gained most of his education on the farm. His youth was spent helping his dad on the farm, and he learned how to drive and break horses under his dad’s patient guidance. He loved horses and always had a horse in some sort of training. He had a few fast horses and spent countless hours with his family in the horse barn, or at a flat track or chariot race. He absolutely loved horse racing, and he spent a small fortune trying to win the World Championship. He got close a couple of times and on any given day his team could beat the best. We were the team no one took lightly!
When he was younger, he liked to hook up the team of horses to go feed the cows. Not because he had to, just because he wanted to. He was really talented with a team of horses.
He also loved being in the mountains, whether it was for hunting, gathering cows or enjoying the great outdoors.
He could often be seen riding “Big Red” through Milton. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He shared stories of his youth and many adventures with his lifelong friends. Some of the adventures he loved to talk about were Ice skating, roping, his mischievous pranks, working at the bus garage and horse racing to name a few. Some of the most existing shenanigans were with his brother, Bruce, and sister, Kathleen.
He loved watching his nieces and nephews play sports and was an avid fan. Making it to as many events as he could. He loved his niece’s treats and loved visiting with them on the phone and better in person. He loved “shooting the breeze” with his nephews.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his mother and dad, and his sister Kathleen Dillon. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Evelyn Giles. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Blake and Jen Giles, Marlene and Whitney Judd, David and Adriana Giles and Clay Giles. A viewing will be held Friday December 12, 2025, from 9:30 -10:30 with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. They will both be held at the Milton Church, 1255 N. Morgan Valley Drive, Milton, Utah.
