Gilbert Scoville

January 26, 1929 — October 25, 2012

Gilbert Louis Scoville peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on October 25, 2012 in Morgan, Utah. He was 83 years old.

Gil was born on January 26, 1929, in Ogden to Louis and Josephine Shorten Scoville, the only boy in a household of five children. The family relocated to Southern California when Gil was young, which led Gil to develop a love of the ocean. He spent many happy days at the beach, wading through water and building sand castles, and later enjoyed snorkeling in the ocean.

During high school, Gil learned to "soup up" cars for local drag races. He eventually became an avid outdoorsman and used his mechanical knowledge to "tinker" with boats, snowmobiles, four wheelers, and motorcycles. His greatest passion was boating, which perfectly united his affections for water, machinery, nature, and family. Gil was an amazing water skier, a legacy that he passed to his children and several grandchildren.

Gil spent his entire career working for Pacific Bell. He retired as an engineer at the age of 52.

Gil was married to his sweetheart, Patricia Ann Affleck on July 29, 1949. He and Pat always loved life and living it together. Their family brought them unsurpassed joy, and the couple eventually moved from California to Mountain Green, Utah, to be nearer their grandchildren.

Gil is the beloved father of three children, Mark (Linda), Brett (Keri), and Cindy (Kent) Carter and is also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on November 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m in Morgan at the South Morgan Cemetery. A reception celebrating his life will take place after the service until 5:00 at the Carter residence, 810 Hardscrabble Drive, Morgan.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Alzheimer's Association Tribute Fund: Gilbert Scoville http://www.alz.org/join_the_cause_tributes.asp
