Gabriel Kurt Simister “Gabe” beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend passed away on September 26, 2025. Gabe was born on April 17, 1985 to proud parents Kurt and Anna Simister, who were thrilled to finally have their son.

Gabe was blessed to grow up with 2 sets of grandparents; Karl and Berniece Warner and Leon and Louise Simister, who he loved dearly. He spent many hours tinkering in the garage with Grandpa Warner and was always up for any outdoor adventure with Grandpa Sim. Gabe loved his family. He had a close relationship with and idolized his dad, Kurt. He was devasted by his passing in 2021. Gabe’s mom, Anna, has been a constant source of love and support for him and will miss him immensely.

Gabe was the proud uncle to 2 nieces and 2 nephews. In their younger years, he cared for them after school and helped them with their homework. In Gabe’s own words, “they are amazing kids and he couldn’t be prouder of any of them.” They each shared a special bond with him. We are grateful for his love and care of our children.

Gabe was an old soul. He often said he had been born a century too late. He was intelligent and had a love of history. He enjoyed finding and collecting treasures that he displayed in his home. Gabe also enjoyed shed hunting, music, and target shooting. He had a knack for putting together puzzles and could complete a 1000-piece puzzle in a matter of hours. Gabe had a dry sense of humor and his laughter was infectious. He loved spending time with his friends over the years, especially his cousin, Waylon Bosworth, who he considered to be his brother. He always looked forward to him coming home to hang out.

Gabe was an excellent heavy equipment operator. He honed his skills at his first job for Geary Construction. He loved running the loader and met many wonderful people through his work. He most recently worked at SVO Enterprises. Thank you to Jon Hellander for his patience, tolerance, and care for Gabe.

Gabe will be dearly missed by his mom, Anna; sisters Misty (Grant) and Melissa (Bryant); nieces and nephews Whitley (Jordan), Mason, Hayden, and Emerie; grandnephews and grandniece Cannon, Racey, and Jex; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, Kurt; grandparents, Leon and Louise Simister, Karl and Berniece Warner; cousin, Kelsi Gimmeson; Uncle, Kim Warner, and good friend, Al Grant.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has supported them for their love and kindness at this difficult time. We would like to send a special thanks to Aunt Melanie and Uncle Arnie Bosworth and their family for their continued support over the years. Waylon and Kali Bosworth thank you for going above and beyond in your friendship with Gabe throughout his life and for offering your home to honor him. We can never repay you for all you have done and you all hold a special place in our hearts. We also appreciate and want to thank Aunt Sheryl Porter for her love and support of our family. Dr. Allen and Jeanette Vernon were a constant resource for Gabe and were always there to help in his time of need. We are grateful for all you did for him.

A celebration of Gabe’s life will be held at 4 PM on October 11, 2025 at the home of Waylon and Kali Bosworth, 1240 S. West Hoytsville Rd, Coalville, UT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations dedicated to mental health and addiction support.
