Freida Sickinger

March 22, 1929 — June 26, 2009

Our mother and grandmother, passed away Friday June 26, 2009 from complications due to cancer. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Roy, Utah. Freida was born March 22, 1929 in Henefer, Utah. She was the daughter of Inez Shill Eakins and Hershel Eakins. She grew up on the farm in Henefer and graduated from North Summit High School. She married George A. Sickinger and was later divorced. She was very proficient in typing and shorthand and was hired as a stenographer at the Ogden Arsenal and later at Hill Air Force Base where she held several positions of responsibility and earned many awards. She retired after forty-one years of service with the government. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and spent many hours on her computer indexing records and working in the extraction program of the church. She received her temple endowments Sept. 26, 2001 in the Bountiful Temple. She was a faithful member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers of Roy, Utah where she served in several positions and made many friends. Her greatest joy in life was her daughter Lori and her grandson Jared. She loved to spend time with them and made many memories for them of her love of camping and just having fun. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and grandson, one sister Deyon (Wayne Spendlove) Morgan Ut., one brother Albert (Nadine) Eakins, Farr West, UT. She also had a close relationship with her cousins Ira Harris, Carolyn Harris Johnston and Dona Kidd. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leslie George Shill and Lucy Fowler Shill and her mother Inez Eakins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Henefer Cemetery. In lieu of flower donations can be made to the Polly Hammond Camp of the Roy Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
