Elsena Jensen Jones, 89, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born July 27, 1936 in Henefer Utah, a daughter of Truman Virgil Jensen and Rhea Stephens. Her father unfortunately passed away as result of an accident just two weeks before she was born. Her mother married David Owen Roberts on June 10, 1938 in Henefer, Utah. Owen became the father who raised and loved her as his own. Over the next 7 years, their family grew, and Elsena became a proud big sister to 3 younger siblings.

Elsena grew up on a farm in Henefer and loved tending to the animals, riding horses, and doing various farm work. During her school years, she attended 4H, had 3 years of cooking and 1 year of sewing. She also played the bass drum in the high school band, and graduated from North Summit High School in 1954.

On her 20th birthday, Elsena married Thomas Lee Jones, on July 27, 1956 in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and became a homemaker. They had 8 children (4 girls and 4 boys) within 15 years.

Elsena was a talented singer, pianist, and also composed children's songs. She performed with the Philomels - ladies double trio for 27 years as they traveled the Wasatch Front. Later, they incorporated English hand bells into their repertoire, sharing beautiful music with many communities.

She enjoyed singing in the ward church choir, served as the Chorister in Relief Society and then in Sacrament meeting for many years. Other church callings were a Primary teacher, Nursery leader, Visiting teacher, among others.

Her hobbies were reading, learning about history, writing poems, oil painting, and creating all sorts of arts and crafts. She made birthday parties, family reunions, and holiday parties beyond fun - over the years she created thousands of party favor butter mint and nut cups, for every theme. She took cake decorating lessons in 1964 and what started as a hobby turned into a small business. For in excess of 50 years, she baked and decorated cakes for birthdays, baby showers, eagle scouts, weddings, anniversaries, Quinceañeras and many other occasions. She also loved camping with family, boat rides, snowmobiling, and motorcycle rides.

She enjoyed being a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Writers League, and the North Davis chapter of the Utah Young Homemakers.

Her greatest pride and joy is her family. She went above and beyond to help her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children. Karrie Jackson of Clearfield, Sharolyn Jones of Clinton, Leelan Jones of Clearfield, Ladena Sellers (Tom Burton) of West Point, Arlin Jones of West Point, Sharla Weaver (Dee) of Clearfield, and Rondell Jones of West Point; 14 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
