Ellen Salmon

July 9, 1914 — March 17, 2013

"Take my hand and lead me, Guide me through this life. I will go where you go, Into the afterlife."

Ellen Marie Wheaton Salmon peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

Ellen was born July 9, 1914 in Coalville, Utah to William Jacob and Emma Elizabeth Staples Wheaton. She was one of nine children. Ellen graduated from North Summit High School and was active in school activities including cheerleading.

On August 31, 1937 she married Clyde Leo Salmon. Four years later, on October 14, 1941 their daughter Clydene Salmon Black was born. Ellen loved her family.

Clydene married Max Black and they had three children; Jeffrey, Gary (Kyra), Wendi (Kyle). She also has nine great grandchildren. Her great grandchildren were all able to build close, loving relationships with her and loved her spunky spirit.

Ellen enjoyed her time working at The Huddle where she made many lasting friendships. She was a faithful Primary teacher for 41 years. She always magnified her calling and found great joy teaching the children the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ellen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and greatly enjoyed attending the temple with her friend Dorothy Blonquist. She loved sewing, quilting, baking and cleaning her home.

Ellen moved to Boise, Idaho in February 2008 to live with her daughter, Clydene and her husband Max. She spent her final two years at Capitol Care Center where the nurses and CNAs took excellent care of her. Clydene enjoyed spending time with her each day, feeding her, talking and reminiscing and laughing. We would like to thank Darlene Sallee, Ellen's niece, for her loving devotion to both Clydene and Ellen.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, her parents, her siblings Marjorie, Oscar, Frank, Athaleen, Jack, Dorothy, and Betty. Ellen is survived by her daughter Clydene, son-in-law Max, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her sister Barbara Wheaton Blonquist and brother-in-law Glen Blonquist as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Coalville, Utah Stake Center with a viewing for family and friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Interment will follow the services at the Coalville Cemetery.
