Douglas Morey Dearden, “dearest of all dear dads,” passed away in his home in Mesa on December 22. He was 94 years old.
He was a quiet, home-loving man, but also a lively joker, especially among his biology students at the University of Minnesota, where he taught for 47 years. He loved his growing up years in Echo, Utah and Green River, Wyoming, but also enjoyed raising his family in Minnesota and retiring to Arizona. His faith in and relationship to God were remarkable, as was his loyalty and kindness to family. He was a truly admirable and heroic man and will be dearly missed by Fay, his wife of 69 years, his three children and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am (following a 9:00-11:00am open house) at the LDS Chapel in Henefer, Utah. Interment will be in the Henefer Cemetery.
