I, Flora Dot Whittier Thackeray, left this world to join my Heavenly Father and Eternal Companion on Feb. 26, 2008.
I was born Sept. 3, 1926 in Milton, Morgan County, Utah to Herbert James and Margaret Rich Whittier. I graduated from Morgan High School, L.D.S. Seminary and attended BYU.
On Sept. 25, 1947 I married my high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) M. Thackeray in the Salt Lake Temple. He died Oct. 11, 1992.
I was an active member in the Milton, Croydon, Morgan 1st, 2nd, and 8th wards serving as organist, chorister, M.I.A. President, Stake Gleaner leader. I also participated in choirs, quartets, trios, etc. I was a Relief Society visiting teacher for many years, a weekly temple patron and served in the German-Latin extraction program.
I am survived by two wonderful children and their spouses; R. Brent (Cynthia) Thackeray, East Layton; Terri Ann (Bruce) Culp, West Point; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Brooks Whittier.
I was preceded in death by my beloved husband, my parents, two brothers and one grandson.
At the request of our mother, there will be a viewing for family and close friends at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Utah on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Graveside services will begin at 12 noon in the South Morgan Cemetery.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and loved all her family dearly.
The family wishes to thank all the people who were so kind and thoughtful to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
